It is now already the end of February and the second camp for the season has just finished, it has been a great season so far with a lot of new happy faces at the camp. Otherwise it is business as usual with a lot of surfing on the agenda.

TommyOur new surf coach Tommy arrived in mid February and he is now in charge of the beginners group. Tommy is a BSA level II coach and qualified life guard and old friends with Scott. Born and raised in the UK but been traveling for the most parts of his life, Tommy just came from New Zeeland where he spent 11 months in his van surfing all around the islands…

Film teamWe also have a film/photo team at the camp following the guests every move both above and underneath the water. Ulrik is making a documentary about the surfcamp and the SCL Foundation and he seems to enjoy his time so far…

Beruga PartyThe weekly theme-parties has been stepped up a level since we got the yoga beruga ready, on top of this we have a new soundsystem from Surabaya and a raised up DJ-booth. Our last party had a Japan theme since it was time for our shaper-friend Ryo to go home to Japan, but he will be back next year…

English classesThere has been a lot more kids attending the English lessons at the camp since we got more space using the yoga beruga and the school visits have been a very appreciated part of the excursions…

BANYU surfboardsMy great partner and shaper Ryo has now gone home to Japan, we are very grateful for the time he spent with us here in Gerupuk. We will continue to shape high quality EPS epoxy surfboards, BANYU now have five models that Ryo designed together with the staff off the surf camp. We believe this is a great opportunity for our guests to get a board that really suits their style of surfing since you can try the boards as much as you want during your stay at the camp...

Our building crewSkate bowl life

The local kids are getting better and better at skating the bowl, but they still prefer to use it as a slide when it is wet. The minute it starts to rain all the local kids gathers in the bowl, they have even started to jump (make air`s) of the corners. For the next camp we are planning to have a skateboard competition for the locals and take out our building crew for a surf session since they have been working with us for three years straight now and still haven’t surfed…

See you soon,
